decolonizing your self care and healing

Welcome to September, Beautiful Souls!

This month we are focusing on something very important when it comes to shifting the paradigm of mental health: decolonizing your self care and healing.

The vast majority of us therapists and mental health professionals were trained in a western approach to healing and mental health. Even if you’re not a healing professional, most of us in the west have been taught (and internalized) a perspective on self care and healing that is one-dimensional, individualistic, and doesn’t include the ancient wisdom of our ancestors and lineages.

I believe that now more than ever, it’s so important that we DECOLONIZE the way we approach mental health: both for ourselves, and in the way that we help our clients and communities. Through a holistic approach to self care and healing, we get back to our roots and include ALL layers of ourselves into our healing.

This month, we will dive into what it means to decolonize your self care and healing, practical ways to implement this perspective shift into your daily life, and how YOU can become a therapist and practitioner who is shifting the paradigm of mental health!
